D. Wickerham Senior Services Board met in the Loggia, Senior Services Center, at 3:30 p.m. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Jane Breazeal. ROLL CALL: Roll was called by the Secretary and all were present. A mini documentary on Senior Services in West University was filmed by Warner Cable TV - Producer, Cindy Cochran. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes were approved as read. OLD BUSINESS: Band Concert: The Band Concert by Pasadena Municipal Band was enjoyed by those who attended. Computer Report: Information in-put is in progress - names of Seniors, their addresses, phone numbers, activity participation, volunteer and transport status, etc. ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. Valentine Luncheon, St. George Orthodox Church, Friday, February 10 at 12:00 noon. 2. Income Tax Filing every Friday, 10-2:00 3. SS-Alive Defensive Driving, Friday, February 17 & 24 from 9-1:00. Museum of Fine Arts Program on upcoming Photography Exhibit, Thursday, February 23 at 11:00. 6. How to deal with the Appraisal District, Friday, February 17 at 7:30 p.m. (W. U. Baptist Church) and Saturday, February 25 at 9:00 a.m. in the Senior Wing. 7. Changes in Medicare seminar and lunch, Friday, March 3 at 12:00 noon. 8. St. Patrick/Easter Luncheon - Dart Baseball Teams from River Oaks Baptist, Friday, March 17 at 10 a.m. TREASURER'S REPORT: Report by Florence Worstell. Balance 12/31/88 $1,197.72 Deposits 502.62 Disbursements 528.06 Balance 1/31/89 $1,172.28 MEALS ON WHEELS REPORT: Report by Anna Lay Turner. Five new people thru neighbors want meals. Two persons have died recently. A class in West University Methodist Church give fruit every other Friday. The patrons are very happy for that. They get 2 meals on Friday (for weekend). GARDEN CLUB: Florence Worstell reported the Garden Club Meeting with a luncheon will be Tuesday, February 2B. MONTHLY REPORT: Joan gave the monthly report (attached). She announced four additional nursing (graduate) students added to the group on duty. Gene Hines reported the Ho Ho Hotline was most successful. The instigator, Sharon Reusser, thanked him for helping. Gene talked with Audrey Nichols regarding the HL&P rate Minutes--Senior Services--February 2, 19B9--Page 3 increase. She said West University is in a coalition of. cities which will respond to the rate increase by HL&P. Randy Hardy suggested a program on Guardianships, Trustees and Bank Accounts. Dalia Stokes agrees it would be helpful. Joan said it would be good program for summer.
