MINUTES
APRIL 13, 1995

The Senior Services Board met in the Senior Wing of the Community Building.
CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by the Chairperson, Dorothy Rieger.
APOPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes were read by Ruth Nelson. Dalia made motion to approve minutes as read; Ida
seconded; motion carried.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Announcements were read by Sharon Reusser.
MONTHLY REPORT:
Monthly Report was made by Sharon Reusser.
A discussion during the reading and following the Monthly Report regarding the following:
1. Upcoming programs by University State Bank and their Trust Department services.
2. Other bank's programs to get new business.
3. New car (Ford Crown Victoria) due around May 1.
4. Rotary Club's computer program.
5. Different reactions of recipients to grocery visits.
6. Sucess of Arts & Crafts Fair.
TREASURER'S REPORT:
Submitted by Randy Hardy.
AARP REPORT: Ruth Ann was not in attendance but Sharon announced luncheon on Thursday,
April 20, 1995.
SUNSHINE MEALS ON WHEELS:
Tom reported 56 active recipients and 6 floaters. Also reported his route increased to include
area as far as Greenbriar and Main. He had provided temporary service to a 40 year old man who
had hip surgery. Regular Meals on Wheels would not have provided meals to this person. Tom
commented that most people pay for their meals.
COUNCIL MEETING REPORT:
Given by Dorothy Rieger. Following subjects were discussed:
1. City passed ordinance regarding parking at events where emergency access may be
necessary.
2. No one running against present city council members in May election.
3. HISD renewed homestead exemption.
4. Shrubs to be planted for residents on Rice Blvd. to cut down noise from ball fields.
5. Future electric bills should be lower.
6. No noticeable difference in water since receiving supply from Houston system.
7. Volunteers needed at cardboard recycling collection center on last Saturday of each
month.
8. What to do about roller bladers, baby strollers, joggers and walkers in the streets.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Sharon reported that (according to contrtactor) building renovations are on schedule
and should be finished around mid-July. Also reported latest information renew car.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Brochures going out soon with lots of activities on line. Good Friday a holiday.
2. Randy brought up subect that some residents have hard time getting into van for
grocery store trips. Sharon suggested the car be used for those people.
ADJOURNMENT:
Dalia made motion, Randy seconded.
