The Senior Services Board met in the Senior Wing of the Community Building.
CALL TO ORDER
The meting was called to order by Dorothy Rieger.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes were. approved as read.
MONTHLY REPORT
Sharon Reeser read the monthly report.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Randy Hardy read the treasurer's report.
MEALS ON WHEELS
Tom MaIloy reported that the routes had been empanded from four to free; another route is still
needed. He said that the total number of clients on the routes have become so large that meals
are delivered late.
COUNCIL MEETING REPORT
Dorothy Rieger reported that the new APAC representatrre has been wn in the City Council.
S he also reported that citizens questioned why the Charter Comm tee had been meeting
secretly since Decrier, although they had not been u*rjrn in until June. Dorothy Rieger
lodged a complaint about the only two open meetings being held in the early morning without a
pudic announcement. The mayor replied that he had 'called around " The head of the Charter
Committee offered to meet with Dorothy R r and her friends, but she declined.
On another matter, Dorothy Rieger said that the vote approving the use of the open patio dace
between the i" and the Community Building for a youth room was taken during a workshop
meeting instead of during an open Council meeting. She added that there is a deed restriction
on the property.
On still another matter Rice Boulevard neighbors of the school playing fields appeared to protest
the installation of tail and po'*erful lights on the field.

Board merrier approved the nomination of three volunteers wh the top number of volunteer
hours for the Yolunteer Leadership Forum awards. All volunteers will be recognized. However,
the Board requested that the costs of the rewards be investigated.
The Board voted unanimously to support the continuation of the metapbyical seminars, although
one family had protested them.
Board members agreed to volunteer for the National Plight Out on August 2.
NPW BUSINESS
Randy Hardy, Ida Feux and John Monahan agreed to deliver groceries on July 21.
Old photographs of the city were requested for use in the 1995 West Universil:y calendar.
The Board discussed the construction of a youth room at the time the YMCA purchase is also
being cortlated. That facility would provide a considerable increase in space over the
proposed new youth room. Board member, were urged to attend appropr~te meetings a nd to
protest the proposed new room in w ing. At risk is the open patio space as well as tvio old oak
trees.
Sharon Reusser announced that a Noyember trip to Labe Charles has been planned
specifically for volunteers. Others in the senior cowtunitj may join the group as space permits.
