The Senior Services Board met in the Senior Wing of the Community Center.
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by the chairman, John Monahan.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes were read by the secretary

Sharon Reusser read the previews.
TREASURER'S REPORT
The treasurer, Randy Hardy, read the report.
APAC REPORT
Vesta Papafagous, the Board's APAC representative, reported about the White House
Conference on Aging held earlier this year. She also said that Texas is participating in
the HUD program, Operation Restore Trust, which has been established to combat
fraud in Medicare. To report a fraud, individuals should call 1-800-252-8011.
AARP REPORT
Ruth Ann Wissel announced that members would contribute gifts to be distributed to
Meals on Wheels clients.
SUNSHINE MEALS ON WHEELS
Tom Malloy said that all clients who wished to participate would receive Thanksgiving
meals. The Harris County Council on Aging has sponsored a questionnaire about
being alone and having a holiday dinner. Drivers were invited to a holiday breakfast.
The Sunshine Meals currently serves 49 clients.
COUNCIL MEETING
Dorothy Rieger reported that the Council discussed increasing water bills in order to
pay for the recently passed bonds. She requested that seniors continue to receive a
discount. She also said the City has agreed to repair city sidewalks. Council also
discussed how to pay for the YMCA property when it becomes available.
NEW BUSINESS
Sharon Reusser described changes in the presents for the Christmas dinner. She
said businesses would be requested to donate 12-15 useful items to be auctioned
during the Christmas dinner and grab bags would be available for everyone attending.
She also announced Jack Meyer's vacation schedule and that the office would close
for Thanksgiving.
Randy Hardy said that the Tangley Street house the the Rotary Club has repaired and
repainted has been completed.
