The Senior Services Board met in the Senior Wing of the Community Building.
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by John Monahan, Chairperson.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes read by the secretary. Randy Hardy motioned to accept; Ruth Nelson seconded.
PREVIEWS AND MONTHLY REPORT
Sharon Reusser read the previews and monthly report.
TREASURER'S REPORT
There was no treasurer's report.
SUNSHINE MEALS ON WHEELS
Tom Malloy reported that the service has 49 clients. He said because Sunshine Meals is
funded by area churches and takes no federal funds, the service was not affected by
government shutdown. He also said that CCSC is making a greater effort to document
volunteer hours since that affects foundation grant possibilities.
COUNCIL MEETING REPORT
Dorothy Rieger reported that comments were received about the proposed new lift station and
the low homestead exemption given seniors. Other business considered by City Council
included the appointment of a temporary police chief, use of the newly acquired lot at Auden
and Rice, a suggestion by the former city manager that the operations department be evaluated
and a change in retirement that would grant recognition for any prior service for a government
agency.
NEW BUSINESS
Council members were asked to contact their legislators regarding the Older Americans Act,
Title 3B which was not funded by the federal budget continuing resolution.
Dianne Rogers brought a Community Resource Directory for the office.
Dalia Stokes gave an update on her candidacy for justice on the 14th Court of Appeals. She
said that she is the only Democrat candidate.
Ida Feux announced that Milton Park would be opened with ceremonies on January 27 in
conjunction with Arbor Day observances.
