CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by John Monahan, Chairperson. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes read by the secretary. Dalia Stokes motioned to accept; Ida Feux seconded. PREVIEWS AND MONTHLY REPORT Sharon Reusser read the previews and monthly report. Ruth Nelson motioned to accept; Dorothy Rieger seconded. TREASURER'S REPORT In the treasurer's absence, John Monahan read the treasurer's report. SUNSHINE MEALS ON WHEELS Tom Malloy reported that 16 meals are delivered in West University; a total of 50 are delivered. COUNCIL MEETING REPORT Ida Feux reported that the speakers at thepublic meeting concerning the use of Kirby Drive properties seemed to want no businesses and to keep the current zoning for townhouses. However, no conclusions were reached. Dorothy Rieger reported City Council heard requests for a public meeting concerning the choic( of a city manager and a change in zoning ordinances that would permit the division of a lot. No changes will be made in the ordinances. OLD BUSINESS Dianne Rogers said the her group of volunteers will begin to visit nursing homes the week of May 15. John Monahan volunteered to be the senior representative on the Recycling Committee. Marie Fish had successful surgery, but still has difficulty getting around. She did not attend the Board meeting. NEW BUSINESS Sharon Reusser needs a driver and helpers for grocery shopping. She said she advertised in the Chronicle's volunteer column. Daliia Stokes reported that during a Meyerland Civi c Association meeting that she had attendec as a candidate she heard a deputy sheriff describe a gang incident in Meyerland during which nine gang members were arrested. He wanted to heighten residents' awareness. A second speaker described being hit by a car while on the sidewalk in front of his home. The driver was a gang member. Sharon Reusser said that the office would be closed for Memorial Day. MOTION TO ADJOURN Ruth Nelson made the motion; Dianne Rogers seconded.
