CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by John Monahan, Chairperson. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes read by the secretary. Tom Malloy motioned to accept; Ruth Nelson seconded. PREVIEWS AND MONTHLY REPORT Sharon Reusser read the previews. Ruth Nelson motioned to accept; Dianne Rogers seconded The monthly report was admended to add the May 14 luncheon for the grocery volunteers that was made possible by a grant from Exxon. Dorothy Rieger motioned to accept; Ruth Ann Wissel seconded. TREASURER'S REPORT In the treasurer's absence, John Monahan read the report, correcting the total to read $4,821.81 with the assumption that the remaining figures were correct. The treasurer's report was accepted with the correction. AARP REPORT Ruth Ann Wissel reported the the group would hear a talk on Senior Survival for the `90s on June 20 and plan a trip to Galveston July 24 that will include lunch and a tour of the Moody House. SUNSHINE MEALS ON WHEELS Tom Malloy reported that the service has 51 clients. He also said the CCSC is conducting a survey of clients asking if they would want a one-time service at their homes, such as yard work, inside paint, or repairs. Area Sunday schools are being contacted to ask for volunteers for the program. Sharon Reusser said she had eaten an extra Sunshine Meal and that it was good and well balanced. COUNCIL MEETING REPORT Dorothy Rieger reported the th Park Lovers has raised $86,481.05 which will be used to renovate Judson Park. The Council discussed selling bonds to raise funds needed for infrastructure work, announced that the house on Auden would be torn down rather than moved and heard a former Council member state that the appointment of a new city manager was a personnel matter that should not be the subject of a public forum. NEW BUSINESS Dalia Stokes said the West University Historical Society is planning a September exhibit in the Scout House. Senior have been asked to volunteer as docents. Sharon will put up posters asking for volunteers. Sharon Reusser acknowledged Dalia Stokes' fundraiser for her campaign as Justice of the Court of Appeals and Mary Lee Gray's plaque for her work with LifeGift organ donor program. Dianne Rogers announced that early in July she will become senior Director of In-Home Services for Sheltering Arms. She added that she and her husband expect their first child in December. Sharon Reusser said the office would be closed July 4. MOTION TO ADJOURN Tom Malloy made the motion; Dalia Stokes seconded.
