CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by John Monahan, chairperson.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the July meeting were read by Dianne Rogers, acting secretary. The third
sentence of the Sunshine Meals on Wheels report was corrected to read "The group is
organizing a program to provide FOOD FOR weekends and holidays.". Ruth Nelson
motioned that the corrected minutes be accepted; Marie Fish seconded.
PREVIEWS AND MONTHLY REPORT
Sharon Reusser read the previews. Tom Malloy moved that they be approved; Ida Feux
seconded.
Sharon then read the monthly report for July. Marie Fish motioned the approval; Wick
Wickerham seconded.
TREASURER'S REPORT
In the treasurer's absence, Ruth Nelson read the report. Tom Malloy motioned the
approval; Dorothy Rieger seconded.
SUNSHINE MEALS ON WHEELS
Tom Malloy reported a "summer lull:" with meals on wheels. Demand tends to be lower
in the summer because many clients visit with family members. These cancellations are
temporary in nature and the number should rise as vacation season draws to a close.
Meals were taken to 46 clients in July.
COUNCIL MEETING REPORT
Dorothy Rieger reported that a resident on Rice is requesting that parking be limited to
one side of the street in the area behind the school. A new assistant attorney has been
appointed. The city will handle the monitoring and response to home alarm systems
beginning in the near future. The fees will be reasonable. Coronado Court will be
temporarily repaired and will undergo permanent repaving eventually.
NEW BUSINESS
John Monahan reported on his attendance at a recent recycling meeting. The new
recycling center will be constructed. Funds are approved in the city budget. One half of
the revenue is expected to come from the proceeds of recycled materials. The Milton
Street facility will be eliminated once the new facility is in place. A decision on how to
handle yard trash is pending. Sharon will contact Cindy Neal and ask if she could speak to
at a future meeting to give us an update on recycling.
The Center will be closed for Labor Day on September 2, and Jack will be on vacation the
week after Labor Day. Sharon requested volunteer assistance for that week to help with
sign ups.
MOTION TO ADJOURN
Wick Wickerham made the motion to adjourn; Ruth Nelson seconded.
Respectfully Submitted,
Dianne Rogers, acting secretary
