MINUTES
NOVEMBER 14, 1996

The Senior Services Board met in the Senior Wing of the Community Building.
CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by Ruth Nelson, acting chairperson.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Minutes were read by Ruth Ann Wissel, acting secretary. Tom Malloy motioned to accept,
Marie Fish seconded.
PREVIEWS AND MONTHLY REPORT:
The previews and monthly report were read by Sharon Reusser. Dianne Rogers motioned to
approve, Ruth Ann Wissel seconded.
TREASURER'S REPORT:
The report was read by Ruth Nelson, Treasurer.
AARP REPORT:
Ruth Ann Wissel reported there was a monthly meeting on November 21 and that the Christmas
luncheon is to be held December 19 at 12:00.
SUNSHINE MEALS ON WHEELS:
Tom Malloy reported that the service stays steady around 49 clients. Also that a survey was
taken as to who would be alone on Thanksgiving day. Hot meals will be delivered on that day
by corporate volunteers working with the Area Agency on Aging.
APAC REPORT:
Vesta Papafagos gave an update on APAC. She said many people are calling about the new area
code, that it is very confusing. The director of APAC met with area agents and discussed
families looking after aging parents and a comprehensive study of their needs is needed. The
Silvered Haired Legislator works with APAC. Felix Nye is the representative of this area. Star
Plus is a managed care for low income people.. Dianne Rogers mentioned that Metro Passes are
free to seniors. The only cost is a fee to have your picture taken.
OLD BUSINESS:
Dalia Stokes thanked all for their support in her campaign. Ruth Nelson has signed the card at
the bank as Treasurer and now can sign checks. All thanked Sharon for the VolVnteer style show
and luncheon on November 13.
NEW BUSINESS:
Jack is vacationing the week of November 18 and Sharon could use help in the office. Also she
asked for help in delivering Thanksgiving Baskets on the 21 st. The delivery of food to West
University residents from St. Georges church was discussed and a motion was made by Ruth
Nelson and seconded by Dalia Stokes to discontinue. A unanimous vote agreed. Visits to
residents will continue. The Senior Services office will be closed on Thursday and Friday,
November 28 & 29.
