MEMBERS ABSENT ELECTION OF OFFICERS Tom Malloy made the motion that the following serve as officers of the Senior Services board for 1997/98: Mary Lee Gray, chair Dianne Rogers, secretary Lola Brooks, substitute secretary Ruth Nelson, treasurer The slate of officers was approved unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The secretary read the minutes. There was a question about the exact opening date for the recycling center, which Sharon Reusser will investigate. Tom Malloy motioned that the minutes be approved. PREVIEWS AND MONTHLY REPORT Sharon Reusser read the previews and monthly report. Ruth Nelson motioned that the previews be approved. TREASURER'S REPORT Ruth Nelson read the treasurer's report and shared some history and basic workings of the treasury system for new members of the group. The report was accepted as read. AARP REPORT Ruth Ann Wissel gave the AARP report. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 18, and will include a program on birds. SUNSHINE MEALS ON WHEELS Tom Malloy reported that 50 clients are currently being served. CITY COUNCIL Dorthy Zink reported that council is discussing the use of $40,000-60,000 to be used for crime prevention task force materials. There is a new West University Elementary School Foundation. City budgets are in the process of being formulated for the coming year. RECYCLING There was no official report, but it was reported that Jerry Burns provided plastic bins for recycling for the Senior Services Department. NEW BUSINESS A plaque will be given to each of the four "retiring" board members at the November appreciation event. Dianne Rogers made the motion that Sharon Reusser have the authority to spend up to $45.00 per plaque. MOTION TO ADJOURN Dianne Rogers made the motion to adjourn.
