CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Mary Lee Gray.
MEMBERS ABSENT
Tom Malloy
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The secretary read the minutes. Alice O'Neill motioned that the minutes be approved.
PREVIEWS AND MONTHLY REPORT
Sharon Reusser read the previews and monthly report.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Ruth Nelson read the treasurer's report. Lola Brooks made the motion to accept the
report as read.
AARP REPORT
Ruth Ann Wissel gave the AARP report. The next meeting is scheduled for October 16,
and will include a program by Pastor Gill of John Knox Presbyterian Church.
CITY COUNCIL
Dorthy Zink reported the following:
1. Milton Park was officially renamed Huffington Park during a dedication ceremony
attended by approximately 80 residents and guests.
2. The footbridge on Tangley over Poor Man's Ditch is being refurbished and covered.
$17,900 has been budgeted for the work.
3. A public relations firm has been engaged by the City to boost our recycling program.
4. The crime task force is recruiting additional members.
RECYCLING
Sharon reported that the opening date for the new recycling center is not yet firm, but
expected to be late October.
OLD BUSINESS
Plaques for outgoing members of the board have been purchased and will be ready for the
November appreciation event. Sharon presented five (5) choices for wording on the
plaques. Dianne Rogers made a motion for wording choice and the group approved
unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Vesta Pappafagos will no longer be able to serve as the West U. representative to the
Area Agency on Aging's APAC. Dianne Rogers offered to serve as our APAC
representative.
2. There will be no activities in the Senior Services wing on election day, November 4.
3. Sharon will set up a tour of the Police and Fire Departments for November.
PROJECTS
Mary Lee led a discussion of possible projects for the board to undertake. Several
suggestions were made, including:
1. Distribute 911 emergency cards to homebound seniors.
2. Update records for all seniors.
3. Public relations campaign to increase awareness of Senior Services programs.
4. Develop a civil defense/emergency plan for seniors.
5. Program for phoning homebound seniors.
6. Explore possibility of a men's club.

Dorothy Zink made the motion to adjourn.
