CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Mary Lee Gray AT 2:35 pm.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The secretary read the minutes. Lola Brooks motioned that the minutes be
approved. Two corrections were noted under "Old Business". Under item #1, the
city's emergency questionnaire will NOT be included in the bags. Under #2, ads
will also be placed in the February issue of the "Journal".
PREVIEWS AND MONTHLY REPORT
Sharon Reusser read the previews. Ruth Ann Wissel made the motion to approve
the previews. Members are to read the monthly report on their own.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Alice O'Neill read the treasurer's report. Dianne Rogers made the-motion to
accept the report as presented.
AARP
Ruth Ann Wissel reported on AARP activities. Details are found in the previews.
CITY COUNCIL
Dorothy Zink reported on city council activities of interest to the board.
OLD BUSINESS: 911 Project
1. Mary Lee presented the small flyer that will go into water bills and the bag that
will be used for the project.
2. Signs will be going up in city hall, the library, drug stores, grocery stores and
any other public place in the city willing to post a sign for us.
3. Bag stuffing will take place on Friday, February 27 at noon. All members are
expected to attend and bring friends if possible.
4. On March 7, members should report to Senior Services by 8:30 am.
5. Set up will be done Friday afternoon (3/6).
6. Betty and Alice reported on volunteer recruitment. The possibility of recruiting
through hospitals was discussed. Volunteer groups will receive follow-up
letters.
7. Dorothy reported on publicity. Our ad has appeared in the "Journal" and the
"Village News" took pictures for an article in their next senior feature. "City
Currents" and the Newcomers Club newsletter have run articles. Dorothy met
with the City Manager and Fire Chief to discuss the project. Dorothy and Mary
Lee presented the project to City Council.
8. Dianne reported on logistics. The number of packets to be delivered per
volunteer will depend on the number of available volunteers. Each volunteer
will be responsible for no more than 20, possible less.
9. Mary Lee went over our timeline/checklist. Badges and the city logo stamp are
here. Gracie will stamp the name badges.
10. Confirmation letters need to be sent to all groups.
