Sherman Yehl advised federal money was included in the construction of the West
University Community Center and is for the use by the citizens of West University.
Sherman added there seems to be a lack of written information documenting what
the Senior Services Board of Directors (SSBD) needs to do, and stated that the
SSBD needs to write a procedures manual. Some issues that need to be addressed
are:
What is subsidized?
Services vs costs,
Services for residents and non residents,
Special services training program cost,
Eligibility for West University Senior Services.
It was noted that all of the above issues be addressed by early spring 2000.
Sharon Reusser read the Previews and apologized that the Monthly Report was not
finished and would be mailed ASAP.
Alice O'Neill gave Treasurer's Report. Dorothy Zink moved the acceptance of the
Treasurer's Report. Motion carried. We had no formal AARP report. Tom
Malloy reported 56 meals have been delivered by Sunshine Meals. CCSC held a
breakfast for all the drivers and they reported 1160 meals had been delivered over
all for those who can't get to a store or who need clean up services once a month for
3 hours, or handy man repairs. The recycle report was given by Stan McCandless.
Elementary school students are making benches from milk bottles. We have nine
dumpsters.
Dorothy Zink gave an APAC report. The Asian/Pacific group is the largest group.

required to become a patient aide. Thirty-six hours are required to become an
ombudsman. There are 236 assisted living facilities in Harris County. The
Attorney General is looking at homes "where people are given assisted living."
Dorothy Zink & Stan McCandless gave a City Council report. Bill Harry was
nominated to be a representative to the Harris County Appraisal Board and the
esplanade on University was discussed as a traffic-calming agent. The new
ambulance purchased by our Fire Department is "State of the Art." The Park
Lovers have raised $42,250 for the Park Master Plan, and they plan to readdress the
plans for all parks and establish priorities. Mayor Linda Lewis spoke on the "Home
