HomeMy WebLinkAboutssminutes011300City of West University Senior Services Board of Directors Meeting Minutes The Senior Services Board of Directors meeting was called to order on January 13, 2000 at 2:35 p.m. by Chairman Mary Lee Gray with the following present: PRESENT: Mary Lee Gray, Sharon Reusser, Betty Aillet, Lola Brooks, Joe Graf, Maureen Graf, Lorraine Greenleaf, George Harbeson, Tom Malloy, Stan McCandless, Ken Moore, Lynn Old, Alice O'Neill, Dorothy Zink. ABSENT: Bob Park, Dalia Stokes. Linda Lewis was our guest. Sharon Reusser gave the Previews. Presented was a "sneak preview" of a Valentine Party Friday, February 11th. Lunch at noon, then entertainment. Treasurer's Report: Alice O'Neill gave the Treasurer's report. Lola Brooks moved the acceptance. Motion carried. No AARP report was given. Tom Malloy gave the Sunshine Meals Report: 57 meals delivered. No other activity. Recycle Report: Stan McCandless presented an enthusiastic report. He went to a Recycling Meeting - among topics discussed: the shutting down of the incinerator at the elementary school - just paper and Styrofoam now. Working on plastic display brochure - working on cardboard - 2 pilot programs. Cans on Wheels will be on Home Place celebration. April 29th will be dump day. Home Place celebration starts April 1. Council Meeting Report: Surveys of Parks & Recreation Department will be sent to every household by February 0. Also Water Department now in process of pilot program - automatic billing forms by February V. Downtown Merchant Association has been formed including the new Farmers Insurance agency in Southside place. PREVIOUS BUSINESS; A. Good Neighbor Club update: Meeting on January 5, 2000. 1. Rewriting of description 2. Working lists presented by Senior Service staff. Interested volunteers, residents who might benefit. 3. 6 x 8 cards. Resident information card & contact reporting card. 4. Tom Malloy - contacting Mr. Glass, graphic artist for tags. 5. Maureen Graf - developing guidelines. 6. Mary Lee Gray & Sharon Reusser working on stick-on patches for Home Place celebration Next meeting January 19, 2000 at 3:00. Senior Services Wing. B. Mailing list update - Ken Moore is working on it. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Joint meeting of all boards and commissions to be held 1/17/2000 - all invited. 2. Sharon showed the model for bus pass prototype. 3. Proposed fee schedule was presented. Lola Brooks proposed resolution: * "Resolved, that the Senior Services Advisory Board supports efforts by the Senior Services Manager to develop and implement an equitable fee schedule for residents and non-residents." Stan McCandless seconded. Resolution passed. 4. Wheelchair Maintenance: Dorothy Zink will investigate. We may not need one. She'll see about costs for cleaning up. 5. Ken Moore is new Vice Chairman, Joe Graf is new treasurer, Lola Brooks is new Parliamentarian, Lorraine Greenleaf is new Secretary. 6. Jack's retirement came under discussion. Meeting adjourned at 4:30.
