HomeMy WebLinkAboutssminutes011101City of West University Place 01/31/2001 Senior Services Advisory Board Meeting Minutes of 01/11/2000 The Senior Services Advisory Board Meeting was called to order at 2:35 P.M. by President Mary Lee Gray and Sharon Reusser took minutes. The following Board members and Staff were present: Mary Lee Gray, Ken Moore, Stan McCandless, Tom Malloy, Lynn Old, Maureen Graf, Sharon Reusser, and Mayor Linda Lewis was a guest. The minutes were reviewed and approved. The Previews were read and approved. The Treasurer's report was read and approved. Mary Lee gave a report on the accounting of the Board projects which were approved by the members. Tom Malloy made an accounting of the Sunshine Meals on Wheels. There was no official Recycle Committee report, but it was mentioned that Seniors are to call to the office to receive the blue bins with wheels if that will help them in their recycling efforts. Mary Lee remarked that Maureen Beck has expressed an interest in attending the APAC monthly meetings. She also said that the Older American Act had passed and that may impact home health care in a positive way. More transportation may also be available. Linda Lewis spoke about current City Council activities. The sidewalk agenda is the most active. She requested a suggestion box for Senior input. She also reminded the Board that the Home Place Celebration will be held in October and requested that the Board think about how they may participate. The Good Neighbor Team will hold a meeting at City Hall Thursday, January 25 from 1:30 to 2:30. Lynn Old made comments regarding the newest "Hi Neighbor" publication mailed out in early January. She also gave copies of the survey conducted a couple months ago. The water bill will be used again to continue conducting our Senior Census and updating our mailing list. Discussion was made regarding the CCSC contribution. The mayor said that the monies allocated for 2001 are set in our budget. A discussion was also made on how to use the upcoming donation from AARP. The Board agreed to work on locating homes that may need repairs using HUD monies. Three names were mentioned for the open Board positions. Ballots were taken and Jeannine Berdgt and Ann Bertini were accepted to fill the open seats. The meeting was adjourned at 4:15. Respectfully submitted by Sharon Reusser.
