HomeMy WebLinkAboutssminutes020801City of West University Place 03/01/2001 Senior Services Advisory Board Meeting Minutes of 02/08/2001 The Senior Services Advisory Board Meeting was called to order at 2:35 P.M. by President Mary Lee Gray and Sharon Reusser took minutes. The following Board members and Staff were present: Mary Lee Gray, Betty Aillet, Maureen Beck, Joe Graf, Maureen Graf, George Harbeson, Tom Malloy, Stan McCandless, Ken Moore, Lynn Old, Alice O'Neill, Sharon Reusser, and Ann Bertini was a guest. The Minutes were approved with two exceptions: Betty Aillet was present at the meeting and Jeannine Bergt's name was misspelled. The previews were read, discussed and approved. There was no Treasurer's Report. The Holiday Party in December was discussed. Tom Malloy gave a Sunshine Meals on Wheels report: There-are more people on the delivery list, they are having problems recruiting volunteer drivers for their new transportation service and West University will be honored at a dinner March 29th for providing full funding. Tickets are $60.00. There was no Recycling Report but the blue bins vs. wheeled blue bins were discussed. Maureen Beck went to the APAC meeting on February I". She spoke of several Texas legislative bills regarding meals, housing opportunities and additional HMOs available. The Council Report remarked on new police hires, speeding along Buffalo Speedway and the sidewalk controversy. The Good Neighbor Team met January 25`h. Jeannine Bergt and Ann Bertini will be coordinators of the volunteers and those being visited. There is work on a brochure regarding services provided and maybe there will be an opportunity to help at the October Homeplace party. "Hi Neighbor" is scheduled to be mailed out mid - April. The mailing list committee is planning an up date follow - up to continue correcting the mailing list. Under Previous Business, the Board discussed how to be involved in the Homeplace Party. Guidelines for drivers and how to handle sick transports were discussed in New Business. Tom Malloy made an announcement that our transport system is helping his family.
