05/09/2002
Meeting called to order at 2:00 PM.
Attendees: Maureen Beck, John Neighbors, Jeannine Bergt, Joe Graf, Elizabeth Young,
Ken Moore, George Harbeson, Anne Hershiser, Betty Aillet, Mary Ryerson, Tom Malloy
and Stan McCandless. Staff present was Sharon Reusser. Absent was Ann Bertini. No
Council members were present.
Previous meeting's Minutes approved with corrections.
Previews and Sneak Previews were reviewed.
REPORTS
Sunshine Meals: Stayed at 41 receiving meals in West University. Can't get new
people to sign on. It was suggested that the Good Neighbor Team follow up on meal
leads.
Recycle Meeting: No report.
APAC: Had a meeting the previous week. Focus to be on social works agencies that
preceptor students. Harris County needs more representation in Austin for Senior Month.
Council Meeting Report: No Council members present. Sherman is quitting to go to
The Woodlands and Michael Ross will be the interim City Manager. Street closures,
Oleanders, lights and sidewalks were discussed.
Good Neighbor Team/Flying Squad Report: Tea was successful and some recruiting
took place. Their table at the Health Fair also got responses
Hi Neighbor Newsletter: Newsletter will go out "as needed", when sufficient
information is accumulated.
Activity Report: Betty reviewed a list of the most recent activities, and noted $65 went
to St. Joseph's in addition to the food and school supply donations.
Previous Business:
Ann was successful in getting City Council to reinstate our Board's name. She also
briefed the Council on our progress and activities.
New Business: Office will be closed for Memorial Day. Stan commended Pat for the
excellent job done on the transportation graph.
