HomeMy WebLinkAboutssminutes021303WEST UNIVERSITY SENIOR SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES 2/13/2003 Meeting called to order at 2:00 PM. Attendees: George Harbeson, Anne Hershiser, Mary Ryerson, Maureen Beck, John Neighbors, Joe Graf, Stan McCandless, Ken Moore, Jeannine Bergt, and Elizabeth Young. Staff present was Janiss Stump. No Council members were present. Absent were Ann Bertim, Tom Malloy, and Betty Aillet. Previous meeting's Minutes were read and approved. Previews and Sneak Previews were reviewed. REPORTS Sunshine Meals: A search for a new meals coordinator has commenced. Drivers are needed. Recycle Meeting:. No report. APAC: Many Houstonians attended Senior Day in Austin. Meeting parking and access for Seniors was sub-standard, and APAC has offered to assist in this area in the future. New officers were elected. Money was raised for holiday meals. Board members were invited to attend meetings which take place on the first Thursday of the month at 9:00 AM. Council Meeting Report: No report. Good Neighbor Team/Flying Squad Report: Marilyn Griffin is the liaison for Rotary. A meeting with Senior Services staff will be held to discuss the new sign-up list. A web page is being worked on. Activity Report: Good Neighbor Team activities accomplished or in progress were the hanging of a garage door, limbs cut and spouse-sitting. Hi Neighbor Newsletter: Deadline for additions to paper is mid-March. Writers are needed. Previous Business: Continued discussion of changing address on homeowner's insurance policies took place. Putting a notice to this effect in the paper was suggested. New Business: A petition for parking on one side of the street to facilitate access for emergency vehicles was passed out. It was suggested the city water bills are not Senior- friendly. The new brochures were commended for looks and content. Janiss and Pat were commended for hard work and high quality of food at Asian Theme Dinner. Meeting adjourned 2:40 PM.
