1. Wednesday, February 26: A short seminar on hormone replacement therapy
is planned that will enlighten us about alternative therapies and the pro's and
con's of synthetic hormone use. Presenter Shannon Maguadog has a doctor of
pharmacy degree, a BS in biology and extensive knowledge in bio-identical
hormone replacement. 10:30 -11:30. Free. All ages are invited.
2. Friday, February 21 & 28: AARP Defensive Driving classes will start and
continue through October. Classes are from 9:00 -1:00. The cost is_$10.00.__
You must attend both classes. This is good for insurance deductions only.
3. Friday February 28: A Western Theme Meal is scheduled in honor of
Houston's Rodeo Days. This will be a fun-filled occasion, complete with BBQ
chicken and baked beans. Join us for delicious food and live country western
music. Everyone is encouraged to dress for the occasion. 11:00 - 3:00. $3.00.
4. Wednesday, March 5: You won't want to miss the informative seminar and
demonstration on Acupuncture. Dr. Eugenia Gutierrez will demonstrate this
procedure and give us basic information on the technique, origin and rational
behind this fascination alternative therapy. 10:45 -12:00. Free. All ages are
invited.
5. Thursday, March 6&20: We will attend the Adults Plus luncheon twice this
month. After the luncheon, March 6, Steinmart will have a Spring Style Show
and on March 20, Speaker Barbara Cowan presents "The Good News About
Aging". Expect a fabulous meal! 11:00 -1:00. $5.00.
6. Monday, March 10: Have you ever wondered how soap is made? Would you
like to make your own scented soap that is both decorative and unique? Join
us for the soap-making class. All supplies are provided. 2:00 - 3:00. Free.
7. Tuesday, March 11: We have planned an interesting trip to the Houston Glass
Arts Studio. Dr. Richard Moyle, a retired physician and his wife, specialize in
various types of glass art and give an interesting demonstration and
presentation on this fascinating craft. Their work is featured at various sites in
the Houston area. 10:00 -12:00. Free.
Sneak Preview:
1. Monday, March 17: Come and enjoy a fun St. Patrick's Day Theme Meal.
There will be plenty of delicious Irish stew, non-alcoholic green beer and a
bread pudding that will melt in your month. We will plan to have live folk
music and lots of fun. Be sure to wear green or you might get pinched. 11:00 -
? $3.50.
