1. Friday, June 13: Dinner and Dance at the Zin Restaurant. Join us for an
exciting evening out to an elegant restaurant that caters to a mature clientele.
While dining the group will listen to live music. After the meal, enjoy the
delightful ambiance, socialize and dance. 5:30 -10:00. Transportation is free.
2. Tuesday, June 17: Galveston Day Trip. A fun morning at the Moody Gardens
complex where participants can choose which attraction they will enjoy: _ The
Imax Theater, Aquarium Pyramid, Rain Forest Pyramid, Discovery (Science)
Pyramid, Ride film or the Colonel Paddlewheel. After our adventures we will
gather again and bus over to the fabulous Rain Forest Restaurant. After lunch
the group will tour the Moody Mansion before returning to the real world.
9:00 - 3:30. Cost $12:50 includes: (1) Moody Gardens attraction and Moody
Mansion Tour. Lunch not included.
3. Thursday, June 26: "Good Ol' Summertime" Theme Meal. This is going to be
too much fun! Let's get into the spirit of summer with bright colorful
decorations and summer attire. June is the month for our traditional hotdog
party. We will have plenty of tasty hotdogs and every kind of toppings you can
think of. There will be chips and dips, macaroni salad and refreshing
strawberry punch. The Gulf Coast Reunion Barber shop quartet will stroll
from table to table; singing favorites from way back when. 10:30. $4.00.
4. Friday, June 20&27: AARP Defensive Driving classes will start and continue
through Oct. Classes are from 9:00 -1:00. The cost is $10.00. You must
attend both classes. This is good for insurance deductions only.
5. Wednesday, July 2: Back by popular demand - The reverse collage group.
Those that attended before know this is a really fun craft. Make a vase or
lamp base or decorative plate. All supplies are furnished accept the glassware.
2:00. Free.
6. Monday, July 7: Three Stages of Retirement Living. Presented by Christine
Gautreau. This is an informative presentation that will take you through the
stages and levels of care in retirement living. This may be of interest to those
caring for elderly family members or those who wanting to make informed
decisions about their future. 2:30. Free. All ages are invited.
7. Thursday, July 10: Ice Cream Social. Join us for our traditional ice cream
social. We will have good old-fashioned style ice cream with all your favorite
toppings. A tap dance ensemble will entertain. 1:00. $2.00.
Sneak Preview:
1. Monday, July 14: Diabetes Education. If you are diabetic, borderline or just
want to know more about diabetes, Cathy Fannin RNCDE of Spring Branch
Hospital will provide an overview of the disease process and how to live with it.
As the Director of Diabetes Education she helps new patients learn what they
can do to manage their illness and facilitates an ongoing support program.
After the presentation, participants will sample healthy snacks. 11:00. Free.
All ages are invited.
