The American Chronic Pain Association will provide an informational seminar. Participants will be given assessment and coping tools used in dealing with chronic pain. 10:30. Free. 2. Antiquing in the Heights, July 7: We will head to the Heights, stop at some of the larger shops to browse, shop and enjoy the spirit of adventure. Then on to a light lunch before returning. 9:45. Free, except for lunch. 3. Tuesday, July 13th: Book Discussion. Houston author Jude St. James joins us to discuss his novel, Iguana, an oil patch thriller, based mostly in the Houston area. 2:00. $5.00. 4. We will host an AARP Defensive Driving course divided into two Friday mornings: July 16 and 23. 9:00-1:00 $10.00. 5. Friday, July 16th: Cooking class: We are off to Rice Epicurean Cooking School for a class with director Elaine Small, a graduate of the CIA and Ginger's daughter. The group will help prepare a delicious gourmet meal, then enjoy eating their expertly prepared creation. 9:30 Cost is only $12.00. 6. Tuesday, July 20th Theme Meal: Come to our Backyard BBQ. There will be delicious brisket complete with trimmings fit for a king. Dress comfortably and get ready for down-home hospitality and fun as John Pickul, the official "voice" of West U, serenades us with music and song. You won't want to miss this wonderful man! 11:30. $4.00 7. Thursday, July 22: The precinct bus takes us to Brookwood Community, a world-renowned facility that provides structure, security and growth opportunities for adults with functional disabilities. Brookwood staff will guide us through the horticulture center, craft studio and gift shop. We will finish the visit at the Cafe Brookwood and enjoy a gourmet lunch prepared by the staff chef. After lunch we will drop by the Katy Mills Outlet Mall for a short shopping spree. 8:00-5:00. $15.00 8. Craft Project: Monday, July 26 @ 1:00: The project begins with a trip to local thrift shops to pick out ceramic plates to create a one-of-a-kind mosaic planter. This simple and attractive technique is done by breaking ceramic plates and using the broken shards to create a decorative mosaic design. First day we find the materials, next week (Monday, August 2 @ 2:30) we create the masterpiece. Free trip, but you buy the plates. Sneak Preview: Friday, August 20' Group trip to the Gulf Greyhound Park. Enjoy a delicious Buffet at noon. Greyhound racing begins at 1:30. Participants will receive _a racing program and betting assistance. There will be bingo and games between greyhound races. 11:00. $10.00 Limited to 24 people. Sunshine Meals: Everyone that was on this discontinued program has been switched to another meal provider.
