1. Wednesday, August 4: Safety Preparedness: Marni Rosen from Retired and
Senior Volunteer Program will talk about Citizens in Emergency Response Team.
She will also talk about volunteer opportunities. 10:30 AM
2. Monday, August 9: Metro Service Presentation. Learn more about the metro
system, and getyour photo I.D made. 10:30 AM. Free
3.Wednesday, August 11: Harwin shopping spree." Join the wholesale shopping
spree right here in Houston. Fee $5 9:45 AM
4. Sunday, August 15: Mystery Trip. Those of you that enjoy a mystery and a
guaranteed good time this is an opportunity you want to miss! $18 10:30-6:00.

5. Thursday, August 26: Tour Channel 11. We will tour the studios of channel 11
where we will see the day- to- day operations, cameras, and equipment and learn
how programs make it from the studio to the television. 10:30 AM. Free.
6. Wed. Sept 1: Machu Picchu Exhibit. Travel back in time to ancient Peru, high in
the mists of the Andes. Exhibit features mysteries, treasures and more than 400
priceless artifacts, high-tech interactives and authentic environments. 1:00. $7.00.
7. Wed. Sept 8: We are heading to the Main Street Theater to see Cyrano the
imaginative interpretation of the classic French tale about a poet soldier, his
oversized nose and the woman he loves. 7:00. $10.00.
8. Mon. Sept. 13: Announcing Poetry Appreciation class. Following this session, the
group is scheduled the first Mon. of each month. 1:00.
9. Wed. Sept 15: Weight Training. Join us at Colonial Park to receive instruction
from Brendon, Personal Trainer at the Met Club down-town Houston. Learn the
basics of weight training and discuss strength building routines. 3:00. Free.
10. Thurs Sept. 16: Make a Fall Door Wreath. It is time to take the spring door wreath
off your door and create a fall creation to replace it. We will have a great
assortment of leaves, sunflowers and other seasonal decorations. 1:00. $8.00.
11. Sun. Sept. 19: We are off to Houston's South West Theatre to enjoy The
Complete Works of Shakespeare (abridged)-A brazen parody of all 37 plays for
lovers of comedy and improvisation. 2:00. $10.00.
12. Mon. Sept. 20: Opera In the Heights special production of La Traviata - the
story of a beautiful courte-san who gives up the man she loves to save his family's
name. Enjoy performance highlights supported with narration. 9:45. $5.00.
13. Thurs Sept 23: Theta Charity Antique Show at George R. Brown. Said to be one
of the best and largest gatherings of antique dealers and enthusiasts. 1:00. $10.00.
14. Wed. Sept. 22: Visit the San Jacinto Monument and Museum of History. We will
watch Texas Forever, a film depicting the battle for Texas Independence. Lunch
will be at the Monument Restaurant. Then we are off to the Haak Winery to
sample the tasty varieties of Haak fine wines. 8:00--4:30. $23.00.
15. Sun. Sept 26: We are off to the Country Play House for the live production of
Cat's Meow-a look at the fateful excursion aboard Randolph Hearst's private
Yacht in 1924. Hearst brings along actress Marion Davies, Charlie Chaplin and
British author, Louella Parsons for an intriguing story with a twist. $12.00.
16. Tues. Sept. 28: Give My Regards to Broadway Theme Meal. Don't miss this one!
Live musical performance _ featuring Broadway favorites and delicious_ _herbed
chicken, wild rice, seasoned vegetables and chocolate Mousse. 11:30. $4.00.
17. We are pleased to inform you that we will be offering a Spanish class this
quarter. It will be taught by George Schuldburg, who currently teaches at Bayland
Park Senior Center. Join us each Tues. and Thurs. @ 3:00.
Sneak Preview: Monster Mash Theme Meal scheduled for October 29th, Make your own
Perfume session, November 9th at 10:30 am, Nun Crackers production, Sunday,
December 12th at 2 pm.
